Easy

So this morning, I am watching some youtube of my cousin (Mark Yamanaka). He won a Na Hoku Hanohano award for a song he wrote for his daughter. He talked about how it was one of those cliche moments in songwriting. He said it took only a few minutes to write and everything just "flowed."

I am sure we have all had those "easy" moments. Moments that may seem TOO easy. Sometimes we second guess those moments and make it more challenging because nothing is supposed to be easy.

Is that human nature to not trust anything that is easy?

Imagine if my cousin went with his instinct? What if he decided the song was too easy to write and not good enough for his album? There is a possibility that the Hoku would have gone to someone else.

So I am going to tell myself to quiet that inner pessimist. If it is easy, then maybe it is meant to be. Enjoy the moment and go with it. If I have learned anything from movies, it is that those who follow the easy path end up with a good story. But then again - those who work hard and struggle usually get academy awards.
